Description and Characteristics:
- Habitat:
Found in rivers, lakes, and lagoons. It prefers calm and slow-moving waters.
- Physical Characteristics:
Has a bright red/orange plastron (especially vivid in juveniles). The head is black with a distinctive yellow stripe behind the eyes.
- Size:
The carapace can grow up to approximately 30 cm in length.
- Diet:
Carnivorous to omnivorous. It eats shrimp, small fish, worms, and pellets.
- Care:
Considered relatively easy to care for (suitable for beginners). It requires an aquarium with a proper basking area.

It is a freshwater turtle endemic to Papua (Irian Jaya) and is popular for its bright red/orange coloration on the plastron (belly) and the distinctive yellow stripe on its head. Scientifically known as Emydura subglobosa.
